Samsung UE46F5000AKXXU led tv no start up/flashing red standby repair

Posted by Peter Hancock on Friday, February 2, 2018, In : Repair
We're now starting to see a few Samsung UE46F5000AKXXU led tvs coming into our workshop that no longer start up although they have a flashing red standby light showing there is still power present. Some of these initially had start up problems but would eventually work, but after extended use, then failed to come on at all.

If we can catch it early enough then hopefully we won't have to replace extra components that get damaged, but either way we have now identified and stock the required part...

Samsung UE32EH4000W tv dead/no power repair

Posted by Peter Hancock on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, In : Repair
We have recently had a few Samsung UE32EH4000W tvs coming in which are dead.
Despite not being made in the same factory as most other tv brands, they appear to suffer from a similar fault to others so we have a ready stock of components to fix them.

This affects UE32EH4000W/UE32EH4000WXXU models and potentially other Samsungs with a similar model - I will try to update as we find more.

Please note: We do not give free advice on DIY repairs, if you would like your tv repaired it will need to be b...

Pioneer KRP500P Plasma TV repair - 8 blue standby flashes

Posted by Peter Hancock on Friday, December 4, 2015, In : Repair
Pioneer TVs, compared to other TV manufacturers, tend to be much more of a challenge to repair, and their pricing strategy for spares tend to raises questions whether they even want their TVs to be repairable at a reasonable and sane price.

However if we can get down to component repair, such as in this case, then it becomes much more affordable.
The Pioneer KRP-500P display is a solid bit of tech, though with all TVs, can go wrong. If your Pioneer KRP-500P intermittently won't turn on and give...

LG 42LS575T Led tv intermittent no picture/backlight repair (sound ok)

Posted by Peter Hancock on Monday, November 2, 2015, In : Repair
We have had a few LG 42LS575T led tvs in recently with all similar issues. While surprising to see such young tvs already appearing in our repair shop, it is encouraging to see that they are quite repairable and at what I believe to be at an affordable cost.

If your tv is suffering from loosing its picture, while the sound stays on ok, then it is worth us (or any other professional tv engineer) having a look as we could save you from having to pay out for a brand new tv. Initially the picture...

Backlight/No Picture Repair on LG Tv models 32LN5400ZALG, 47LN5400ZALG and 50LN575VZE

Posted by Peter Hancock on Thursday, October 29, 2015, In : Repair
We can now source the screen components required to repair LG tv models that suffer from no picture/no backlights issues (but the sound comes on ok).

LG (and other manufacturers) have long denied tv engineers the parts required for this economical repair which meant a lot of tvs got unnecessarily thrown out at the dump by people. It is very encouraging to see LG and Samsung now starting to supply screen components and hopefully others will follow suit.

Please note that LG do not yet supply scre...

We are still at the early stages of repair methods for these, however we have had some good success getting the picture back.

If you have a Toshiba LED tv with sound, but either no picture or a very dark picture then it we should be able to repair it.

Evotel LCD40USBFHD picture too bright/colour bleed issues/solarised

Posted by Peter Hancock on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, In : Repair
Not a well known make, but we have found that the Evotel LCD40USBFHD uses the same screens that you will find in a lot of Samsung TVs. These sometimes get a fault where the picture is too bright or the colour runs or shows the wrong colours in faces etc. The picture may become solarised or negative, and all these faults may be present on switch on or occur after the tv has warmed up after a few minutes.

This is usually due to components overheating, and not necessarily a faulty screen.

We are starting to see some Bush LED24970FHDT and Bush LED24970DVDFHD TVs in for repair.

Philips 50PFP5532D05 Plasma TV - Clicking noise, red flashing standby

Posted by Peter Hancock on Friday, July 18, 2014, In : Repair
This beast (in a good way) of a TV packs a punch with plenty of ports including 2 HDMI points for external devices. These TVs, however, tend to run quite hot and therefore some components do wear out over a period of time. We can get these parts and if your faulty Philips TV refuses to turn on and has a clicking noise every few seconds then it may be time for a service.

Please ring beforehand to make an appointment (or we can call out to Bath area), this is not a TV that you want to lug around...

Toshiba 32BL702B and 32BV502B no sound but picture ok. Sound fades out after a couple of hours

Posted by Peter Hancock on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, In : Repair
We have come across some TVs, including the Toshiba 32BL702B and 32BV502B, where it loses sounds but the picture remains ok. The sound may fade out after 30 minutes but can last up to a few hours until the issue arises. The sound may even start working again if the TV is turned off for a while.

We now have the repair kits in to fix this issue, if you have a similar sounding issue (no pun intended) then please ring us to see if we can help.

Toshiba 22DV713B TV Repair - Sound ok, no picture

Posted by Peter Hancock on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, In : Repair
The Toshiba 22DV713B TV (and potentially other similar models) has a fault where the sound will work ok but the picture will disappear within a second or two after switch on. This is not always the tubes (and even if so, we may still be able to repair if parts are available) and can actually be the components on the panels inside not working correctly. We can now get these components and replace the faulty ones - Still cheaper than replacing a 22" TV with an inbuilt DVD player, this is one sm...

Sharp LC22DV510K TV repair - flashing standby light/died while watching tv

Although 22" and similar size TVs don't cost the Earth these days - they are even cheaper to repair!

This is a component-based repair and we upgrade all the components in question, not just the ones that have gone pop, so that this fault should not reoccur. As always, we do a 3 month warra...

Samsung models LE32A456C2D and LE32A457C1D TV Repairs - Slow to turn on/turns itself off

Posted by Peter Hancock on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, In : Repair
Both the Samsung LE32A456C2D and LE32A457C1D LCD TVs suffer from a few power-related issues. Sometimes it can be slow to turn on or refuse to turn on, and other times it can suddenly just turn itself off. These issues may happen together or independently of each other but are both repairable and cheaper than buying a new TV. These also have a good number of external connections available that modern TVs no longer have due to cost-cutting, and the HD picture will be just as good, if not better...

LG 42PQ3000ZA Plasma TV - turns on and off, clicking noise/dead

Posted by Peter Hancock on Thursday, January 30, 2014, In : Repair
Although Plasma TVs are not my favourite thing in the world, I have to admit that LG, Panasonic and Samsung have made some rather nice ones. Some are more repairable than others though, and LG's 42PQ3000ZA can usually be repaired for a reasonable fee compared to most - If your 42PQ3000ZA has been struggling to turn on, clicks on and off with a red to green back to red standby light then it can usually be repaired (ideally the sooner you bring it in the better).

Other models included are:

Now Bush may not be one of my favourite brands but I have to admit the IDLCD32TV16HD seems to do a rather good job of providing a reasonable picture and some decent sound for a "budget" tv. While newer tv's freeview have stopped working properly with the latest signal these seem to soldier on.

Because of the age of these sets I appreciate not many people would consider repairing them, yet if I point out that it has all the HD and scart you'll ever need, you might think again. These generally g...

Goodmans GTVL32W17HDF & GTVL32W27HDF LCD TV Repairs

Good looking, slim, and HD Ready, these can still punch above their weight in sound and picture quality. An added bonus is that it has 2 scart ports compared to the usual 1 (or 0) you get in new "Smart" TVs, handy for that old VCR or DVD Player you may still like to u...
