Sony RDR-HX890 stuck on Guide Plus after update

There has been an issue with the Sony RDR-HX890 HDD/DVD Freeview recorders since Sony did a recent firmware update. It can affect the machine by forcing it to use Guide Plus for recording - unfortunately this feature is no longer supported and the Digital Guide needs to be unlocked.

This is something we can fix, and once done, you will be able to record tv again!

Samsung LE26R74BDXXEU TV loses Freeview tuning

Some of the Samsung LE26R74BDXXEU TV lose Freeview tuning making it impossible to get Freeview without a separate box. Scart and other ports appear to remain ok. We have now narrowed down the issue to basic component failure making it far cheaper to repair than replacing boards left, right and centre.

Top Up TV PVR guides not working

Recently a lot of Top Up PVR recorders have lost their guide making it impossible to make any timer recordings.

Normally older freeview recorders struggle with the latest signal but these can be put right. Repair will cost between £30-£40+Vat (not including Call Out).

There are a lot of different makes and models that use the Top Up TV software, the ones known with this fault are listed below:

Wharfedale TU160DTR
Bush BU160DTR
Thomson DTI6300

Philips LCD TV Switching itself off

We have found that a few Philips TVs have issues where they turn themselves off. Although this can be for many reasons, it can be repairable.

If your Philips TV normally works ok but intermittently turns off and on restart the picture remains blank but sound is ok - This is something we may be able to help you with.

Rushing noise/noisy audio at low level from Toshiba AV554 & AV555 models fix now available

Some Toshiba LCD TVs have been affected by a glitch that results in a rushing noise/noisy audio at low levels. May also be described as a low roaring/airy sound, which happens on all sources but most noticeable when using scart or hdmi ports. We have found this issue recently with a 37AV554D model but it is known to affect others of a similar build.

We now have the technology to repair this defect and is a worthwhile and permanent fix.
